in june 2022, virginia tech lacrosse student-athlete, mary griffin, was honored with the wilma rudolph award, which recognizes student-athletes that have overcome great personal, emotional, and/or academic obstacles to achieve great academic success while participating in college athletics. this video highlights griffin's journey from the day of her cancer diagnosis to her triumphant return to the field.
